If you want to add value to your home, nothing works better than a kitchen and/or bathroom remodel. Mr. D’s can change your current outdated kitchen into the “gathering” area of your home. If your kitchen cabinets are still in great shape, this can typically be accomplished by taking your existing kitchen area and removing a wall or closet, or maybe even an island breakfast bar, and opening up the whole kitchen to the rest of the house. If your home is older and the appliances and tile have existed since day one, you will probably want to add new flooring, countertop, and appliances.
The photos on the right show not only a kitchen remodel, but a complete room remodel. As you can see from the top photo, the kitchen was completely cut-off from the rest of the home. The homeowner was looking for a more open concept, and by removing the wall that separated the small kitchen from the dining room, the whole area was opened up to the entire house. We installed new kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, appliances, wood flooring, and recessed canned lighting. While the square footage remained the same, it appears much larger and is definitely a more friendly enviornment.
The photo on the left is perhaps the most incredible change to any home without actually rebuilding it! This home went from the 50’s look to a modern and spacious area. Again, Mr. D’s removed a wall, but in this home we also added a pantry area and island counter space along with the new cabinets and granite counter-top. When it was completed, it was nearly impossible to believe that it was the same house!
Finally, if your home is in dire need of a full kitchen remodel, but you cannot afford the cost, you may want to consider keeping the existing kitchen cabinets and simply refinishing them. While most homeowners would prefer beautifully stained cabinetry, sometimes the existing wood is just too damaged and would prove costly to refinish in the original wood stain. However, a very cost-effective way to upgrade your kitchen is to paint the existing cabinets.
In the last photo we painted the existing cabinets and added a grainite counter-top, new applicances, and replaced the exisiting lighting with recessed canned lighting. The cost of the remodel did not break the bank, and the upgrade to the home was significant.
