Does your home have curb appeal? Maybe a fresh coat of paint is all you need. Mr. D’s has over 25 years as a painting contractor in the San Diego area, and we can help you make that first impression a good one!
When painting the exterior of your home, it’s important to know the type and quality of paint that will work best on your home’s surface; for example, paint used on wood or aluminum siding may not work well on a stucco surface.
Mr. D’s uses only quality paint and, with years of experience, is qualified to advise you on what will work best for your home’s surface. After all, that’s why you hire a professional painting contractor.
Then there is always the decision of color. Exterior painting isn’t something you’re going to do every year, so you want your choice of color to be something you will be happy with for several years. The decision of color can be overwhelming, and deciding color from a small paint card is nearly impossible. Generally, you will choose one color for your fascia and eaves, and another for the wall surface. Once you decide on a couple of color schemes, Mr. D will bring paint samples, which can be applied to a small area of the exterior walls. This will give you a better idea of how the paint color will actually look on your home. Once a paint color is chosen, we are ready for the next step — preparation.
The exterior of your home is exposed to environmental conditions, so preparation is an extremely important part of any exterior project. We will carefully inspect your home for any damage to your wood, fascia, and eaves or stucco (see Stucco Repair below), and we are qualified to make any necessary repairs. If your home has excessive mildew or loose paint it may require exterior pressure washing and cleaning which will remove the dirt and mildew and remove any loose paint and stains from the exterior surfaces before painting proceeds. Finally, our painters will thoroughly prepare the surface to be painted, as well as completely protect and cover the areas that will NOT be painted. When the job is finished, we clean-up the job site and remove all materials. We treat your home with the same respect that we do our own!
In the picture, you can see what happens when you have trees or bushes growing too close to the house. Not only were they being watered too much, but the roots actually grew up into the stucco, because it was always moist. The homeowner had removed the trees and bushes and replaced them with concrete but, as you can see, the damage was already done.
Termites can also be a problem. Untreated trees, plants and foliage, moisture, and wood mulch around your home may attract termites. Once your home is infected with termites, they can cause costly damage to both the interior and exterior of your home. Mr. D’s professionals will look for and repair any damaged areas before painting the exterior of your home.
